What is the best time to book my trip? We recommend you book as soon as you know which dates will work best for you. Our calendar can fill up fast so the sooner you book, the better dates you can expect. What do I need to bring? The only essentials are your own personal items, such as clothes, toiletries, and a quality sleeping bag. We provide everything else. Hunters please see suggested gear list at bottom of hunting page. How much should I bring? We ask that you limit yourself to 35 pounds or less of personal gear. Two changes of clothes, a warm jacket, plenty of socks and an extra set of footwear is usually more than enough. What if I have special diet or health needs? We are happy to make necessary changes to our usual practices to cater to any special needs you may have. We only ask that you make us aware of these at the time you book your trip Do I need to be an experienced horseback rider? Absolutely not. We often take people who have never been on a horse in their lives. This is an excellent chance to learn about horses while they do what they do best. However some people choose to take a few riding lessons before they come so that they can focus more on the scenery. How much danger is there from wild animals? Very little. While there are wolves, grizzly and black bears, and mountain lions in most of the areas we go to, they rarely pose any kind of threat, and its very uncommon to even see them. We keep an extremely clean camp to remove any kind of attraction for them. What is the age limit for children? 8 years of age and over. What kind of weather should I expect? Considering it usually snows at least once during each month of the year, you should expect the weather to constantly surprise you. That said, during the summer temperatures can range anywhere from 50 to 100 degrees, with nights quite a bit colder. The best way to prepare for this is to be able to layer your clothes to stay comfortable. Quality rain gear is strongly recommended. Is tipping expected? As with any service industry, the wages paid to our hardworking guides, cooks, and wranglers are not proportionate to the amount and quality of work that they do. Tips account for a good portion of their income. If you feel that the staff went out of their way to make your trip special and memorable, tipping is customary and very appreciated. How much deposit is required? We require a 50% deposit at the time of booking, with the balance due upon arrival. Is my deposit refundable? If you cancel your trip 30 days before your booked date, your deposit it 100% refundable. In the case of a death or serious illness in the family you will receive 100% refund as well. The reason we require 30 days notice is that we only have so many days in our season, and if weve committed to you for a certain number of those we need to fulfill that commitment to the business. |
